Integrative Seminar 10 – 10th October, 2019, Thursday.

(Ms. Kanika Sharma)

Everyone had a different place to visit in Mumbai and in this class we shared our experiences, observations and aspects of the places we all had visited with our groups.
Our place to explore was Sassoon docks. It’s Mumbai’s biggest fishing docks and market. As there was fish, there was it’s foul smell too and that’s the first thing we all had noticed about the place along with other things too.
We were told to select any 3 pictures from the visit to the docks and write a poem on each picture taken using different styles of writing a poem. This assignment is to be shown in the upcoming class next week. Although I did search through different styles and wrote a few to try them out later at home.
1. Free verse poems – least defined, no pattern, no formula, irregular. No wonder why I chose this for one of the pictures.
2. EPIC – usually depicting heroic deeds, tells tales of intense adventures
3. Acrostic – where certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. Typically, the first letters of each line are used to spell the message, but they can appear anywhere.
(I find this one really interesting)
4. Sonnet – small lyrical poem, usually sung like a song, has 14 lines.

The next task was to write questions for interviewing the people around the docks with the expected answer, which were to be approved in the following Studio class as they go hand in hand.
