Integrative Seminar 9 – 3rd October, 2019, Thursday – Ms Kanika Sharma

Ma’am told us to write about any 3 things we noticed during our museum visit. So, there was a scene where Goddess Sita was captured by Ravan, that scene was shown in a glass box by using hand made dolls. I couldn’t understand why was it there when the museum was about History of Bombay. And the second thing was that the whole museum was easily accessible to physically disabled people with proper signage allotted. And the third was, there was a library we had no access to (i don’t know why).

Then, we sat with our groups and made pairs and interviewed one another. This was done to explain us how a person must be interviewed without making them uncomfortable.

I interviewed my friend Kashish and asked her basic questions about the city she was born and brought up in, whether she has siblings and about her hobbies.

Ma’am also told us that there are 2 ways of gathering information – Primary and Secondary.
Primary information involved gathering information from people who have an expertise in that field or topic of interest. It’s also qualitative, detailed and less in number.
Secondary information meant information that was already available on the internet or in the form of books. It was quantitative and available easily.

The main idea about this class, I think, was collecting primary data by using tools like interviews and observations. It was very interesting. Especially the discussion about why was the museum visit necessary since everything is available on the internet which actually lead to this whole talk about primary and secondary information.
